People are afraid of many things. They are scared to ask what they don't know; nervous about starting something new or anxious of what others might think of them. There are those who are frightened of flying, of heights, of the unknown or being in the dark.
Being scared is not inborn. You developed your fears through time. Some things happened that you didn't like or did not work and you attached fearful thoughts to them. You keep them in your memory bank and create your internal reality.
So when you see or hear something that act as stimulus, your emotions are triggered. You'll go back to your memory and will feel disturbed by the thoughts. You would do anything to avoid taking action even if it provides a chance of personal growth and improvement in your life.
