Some people enjoy being alone. They enjoy their solitary time and find it quiet and relaxing. They are able to think about their lives, plan their future, do creative work or do nothing without interruptions. If these people are deprived of their private time, they can get very uptight and uneasy.
But many people can't stand being on their own. Some can't even imagine being in solitude because of their fear of feeling of being alone and feeling lonely. The silence frightens them and makes them emotional, feel lost and bored. To overcome their feeling of loneliness and boredom, they'll look out for things to do, people to talk to and some noise. They'll go shopping, eating, and watching television or anything else so as not to feel isolated.
"You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with." - Wayne Dyer
Enjoy your space.
It's not always that you get to be by yourself in your own personal space. The normal routine is to go to work, socialize, attend to problems, meet deadlines, be there for your family, etc. There are so many activities and things to take care of that you drain all your energy and you may hardly find time for yourself. So when you get the chance to be on your own, enjoy it. You can do what you want which you never had the time for like enjoying some music, read books or magazines and watch old movies, all by yourself.
Plan your future.
Do you have your list of goals written down? If you do, great. Look through that list and see your progress. Tick off what you have achieved and add more to the list so that you always have something to strive for. If you don't have a list of goals, then you are allowing things to just happen in your life. Use this alone time to plan your future. Start writing a long list of what you want and state your reasons. As you add more to your list, you'll start imagining your future and feel excited.

Train your mind and muscles to relax.
Your mind is forever producing thoughts and images, even without your participation. The trouble is most of them aren't helping you to feel good. The moment you do nothing, it'll tell you that you have to do this or should do that. And you follow its instructions without questioning. Do this often enough and you develop the habit of not being able to sit alone doing nothing.
Sometimes, it's good to do nothing physical and let your body relax. Just sit still or lie down and watch what it's telling you to do. Don't do anything and keep listening, watching and observing your subconscious mind at work. You can have fun by challenging and question it until it cannot come up with a logical answer.
Whether you have had fun with it or not, after you keep your body still, do some deep breathing. Breathe in for 1 count from your stomach through your nose, hold your breath for 4 counts and breathe out slowly to the count of two through your mouth. Repeat this breathing exercise several times. Other then relaxing your muscles, it lowers your blood pressure, slow your heart rate and reduces your stress.
